Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial Aid

At St. Mary’s School, we believe that a Catholic education should be accessible to all families who desire it for their children. We are committed to working with parents to make an SMS education affordable through need-based financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Families may apply for financial assistance during the admissions process, and awards are determined based on demonstrated financial need. Our goal is to partner with parents so that financial circumstances do not prevent students from benefiting from the strong academics, faith formation, and supportive community that St. Mary’s offers.

For more information about financial aid options, application deadlines, and required documentation, please contact our school office.

Education Freedom Scholarship

What is the Education Freedom Scholarship?

The Education Freedom Scholarship Act of 2025 provides eligible Tennessee families with up to $7,295 per student each school year. These funds can be applied directly toward tuition and fees at registered non-public schools, including St. Mary’s. Families may also use any remaining funds for approved educational expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, technology, and tutoring.

Who is Eligible?

Students may qualify if they:

  • Are residents of Tennessee and eligible to attend public school.

  • Are lawfully present in the United States.

  • Enroll in a registered Category I, II, or III non-public school in Tennessee (St. Mary’s meets this requirement).

In the program’s first year, Tennessee will award up to 20,000 scholarships statewide, with the first 10,000 going to families who meet income requirements or are already enrolled in certain state programs.

Why This Matters for St. Mary’s Families

The Education Freedom Scholarship makes it easier than ever to choose a Catholic education at St. Mary’s School. With scholarship support, families can experience the difference of:

  • Faith-based learning rooted in Catholic tradition.

  • Academic excellence in a nurturing environment.

  • Opportunities in the arts, athletics, and service that develop the whole child.

How to Apply

Families are encouraged to apply early, as scholarships are limited. To learn more about the application process and eligibility requirements, please visit the official Tennessee Department of Education EFS page or contact our school office for guidance.

At St. Mary’s School, we believe every child deserves the gift of a quality Catholic education. The Education Freedom Scholarship helps make that possible.
