Founding

St. Mary’s Catholic School was established in 1878 to teach children in an atmosphere of faith.  St. Mary’s has been the only Catholic, parochial, elementary school to operate for over 130 years in the Diocese of Memphis and is the oldest, continuously existing parochial school in the state of Tennessee.  The school has been administered by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville from 1900 to the present.  It is owned and operated by St. Mary’s Parish and supported by parents and parishioners and the wider community.

Yearly Assessment Program

Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS)
A test battery for collecting critical educational data is used by many dioceses and independent schools throughout the nation. It is developed for schools with high achieving standards. The test is administered in the fall of each year to grades 1- 8.

An automated library with over 8,000 volumes and modern research materials.  Instructional computer lab as well as computers in each classroom. A comprehensive science lab with state-of-the-art equipment.
